ABOUT US
Sloan Falcon Makoujy, a senior at Wilmington Friends School, started SAT Word of the Day after realizing how much a stronger vocabulary could help him while studying for the SAT and other standardized tests.
As he worked through prep materials, he noticed that most vocabulary resources were either too dense or too boring to stick with. He wanted something simpler, a way to help himself and others steadily build vocabulary without feeling overwhelmed.
His idea was straightforward: share one new word each day so it would feel manageable, spark interest in learning, and inspire curiosity about related words. What began as a classroom project quickly spread as more students signed up and shared it with friends.
Sloan carefully selects words that are both useful and challenging, the kind that appear on assessments and in everyday life. For him, vocabulary is not just about test scores, it is about having the confidence to express yourself clearly.
By creating SAT Word of the Day, Sloan hopes to make learning a little less stressful and a little more achievable, one word at a time.
